Hi,
I'm new to sewing machines. We bought a used Janome New Home (a.k.a. Derby) sewing machine for my daughter.
It worked fine for about a month. Then it started skipping stitches pretty badly. We watched all the tutorial videos from Janome, triple-checked both top and bobbin threads are threaded correctly, changed the needle a couple of times, cleaned bobbin case, checked timing, bought a thread spool that seems to fit the machine well. In short, I tried everything a newbie like me can try, but still can't make it work. It still skips stitches a lot (it seemed to improve slightly after changing the thread spool, but still not usable). I've uploaded the video that shows how the machine behaves.
So this forum is our moon shot ... Can anybody tell us what may be going wrong, or advise us the next troubleshooting step?
Like I said we're new to sewing machines. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Nao
P.S. We've noticed that it takes several rotations (say 10) for top thread to pick up the bobbin thread. Can this be a clue to the root of the problem?
