Looking at upgrading my Consew 226r to the next level.
I'm looking at new Juki 1508N
It has self oiling, larger bobbin, longer stitch length .
All nice features but as expected a nice price to go along with it.
I have also been eyeing NC1508NH, its a direct knock of the Juki.
NC had a booth at SEMA and I talked to them about this machine.
Cost $1000 dollars less and has a 2 year warranty.
Anyone have experience with this machine?
Any feedback or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t have any direct experience with them but on another upholstery forum that seem to be getting good reviews, and also a few shops/people on Instagram have been very pleased with the NC machines. If you’re on Instagram maybe contact scottlafrancecustomcovers. He just recently got a long arm machine from them and can give you real experiences on it.

Bigger bobbin is nice to have, self oiling might be problematic if you sew slowly. And if you don’t use machine daily just making it more complex. I personally like manual oiling but I don’t use machine to make money.

Stitch length is another questionable item. If you never use it then you don’t need it. Why would you use stitch larger than 226r can produce?

I agree with @IvanD having owned one I oiled, and now a self Oiler, I’m not sure which I prefer. If it sits for any length of time, I’d say more than a day, you’ll want to just pull the thread out of the needle and hit the pedal to spin it up good before you sew. Especially if you plan on sewing at a lower speed. Threading a bobbin is enough. Once you do that it’s good for awhile even at slower speeds. But I have to life my head to replace my bobbin, and it sometimes drips oil off of the bottom. I put cardboard under it to soak the drips from doing this. Not saying all will do this. But I don’t worry about the oil as much as people make it out to be an issue. I like not having to think about it and making sure each spot was oiled properly

On the one I oiled I like the no pan, no drips. But I sometimes would stop and just oil it out of fear it wasn’t oiled enough with the few drips in the locations that needed it. That and I always had oily fingers from my oil bottle, that got on stuff. It’s a 50/50 for me on what I prefer. But something to ponder.

I thank you all for the input. I agree self oiling isn't that big of a selling point. I really would like a larger stitch length for contrast thread, just looks nicer in my opinion. The large bobbin would be very nice for sure. I have read some of the info on The Hog Ring, and I see they advertise with them as well. Just thought I would check this forum for some un-biased opinions.
Just trying to figure out how they sell this machine for a $1000 dollars less than the Juki. Am I gonna end up with a Harbor Freight sewing machine.

If you can afford it buy the Juki, you won’t regret it and their resale value is much higher than a clone.

I would buy branded machine and if you don’t mind used I would look for excellent condition used one

@DEH, well man I would just look for a machine capable of setting up with just that thread and get one as low price as you can as an option. I just dont have the market here to even bother with that so have settled with sttitching classic.

Hey @DEH are you doing upholstery professionally or plan to in the future? If so I would recommend spending the money on the Juki. I have never used NC before but for sure there is a quality difference with $1000 price difference. The 1508 is a super nice machine. If its to expensive I would consider the Juki DNU1541s. Thats a great machine and less expensive.

Any updates on what you ended up doing? Eyeing the NC Currently.
