Curious about this machine, dated yes but in its day what job was it designed to do?

They are very well made upholstery class machines. Only thing to worry about is the timing belt, the old ones had a timing belt made out of fabric or horse hair or something. Issue is that when it breaks, the cogs that accept the "fabric" belt do not accept the newer rubber belts and fabric ones are no longer available. Cogs can be replaced to accept the rubber belt but that means pulling the upper drive shaft which is no small task. I think you're only going to see them on the 067 series and maybe not all. The 167 and 267's should have been built with the rubber belt. At least the ones i have seen. If it does indeed have a rubber, then no worries at all.
