Hello, I started an upholstery business a few months ago. I currently focus on motorcycle seats and other small recreational vehicles. Has anyone ever made a custom tank pad for a bike? I'm curious about different methods of attaching one to a tank. Typically they're made of a thin rubber with an adhesive backside. The one I'm making is a pleated leather design with a small logo embroidered in the center.

One method I've seen is to integrate with the tank mounts by sandwiching or wrapping around the fore and aft mounting hardware

Thanks for the input. I've always known those as tank bras. This one is a different style as it is for a sportbike. I ended up reusing the original soft rubber pad, I glued the pleated suede piece around it. The suede overlaps the rear only about a centimetre. Then I found some heavy 3M double-sided tape to hold it to the tank. This is one of those projects we learn on where we say yes then figure it out later.

That looks fantastic! You beat me to it, I was gonna suggest 3m attachment tape. That stuff is pretty strong.
