Any tip and tip for how to deal with a panel replacement when the seam allowance has been trimmed away. I put on a different set of feet so that I have something to guide along.

What I am running into is that I have the two layers line up but after I sew it the lower layer has move towards the needle resulting in less seam allowance or no seam allowance on the lower piece.

This is what I am trying to sew. There are two sets of holes the construction stitch and the topstitch. The topstitching is 1/4”.

I have successfully fudged the size of the replacement a little bit larger than the original and then sewing it all back together with a smaller seam allowance while still allowing enough for the top stitch to grab the seam allowance. It wont be exactly the same as before but very doubtful anyone will notice it and you dont really have much of a choice once the seam allowance has been trimmed.
