I am wondering if the stitch tension is set correctly in me machine.
The first photo is the stitch on the back side of the vinyl.

Is the second photo the front side? If so, (and it's a little hard to see that clearly) it looks like your back thread is being pulled up to the front, meaning your top tension might be too high or your bottom too low. (No! Not YOUR bottom, but the bottom tension!)

Top and bottom threads should meet in the middle with proper thread tension. With my old eyes, I often use a goose neck illuminated magnifying glass to check my thread tensions.

Thank you for your advice- it took me awhile- I am not fond of mechanical problems- Tension fixed and ready to sew again.
