Good morning everyone,
I typically send quotes out by text. A couple I have sent recently have returned no response. My question is, do you follow up on quotes where you don’t hear anything back or do you just let it slide. If you do follow up, how are you wording it?
Thank you,
Jim 🍻

Keep following up, politely, till you get a response even if it's negative. You never know if they get their email or it goes to spam. Try using a "recipt" system if your email provider offers it.

@Jim,

Doing business by text is unprofessional to some people. I would call them and inquire about the project so you can move forward.

Thank you. I will politely reach out to the prospective customers and see where we stand.

Yeah you should always follow up. Even if its a no you can learn why its a no and use that information to improve your sales process moving forward.

@Jim I’m not going to say I am an expert or even good at this aspect of business, but here’s what I usually do.
I give a rough estimate and then ask for a deposit based on that. If they don’t want to do the deposit they prob aren’t going to do anything so saves me time not messing with them. If they do the deposit then I will research and spend time pricing and finding materials. Send them the estimate via email(if they have one) and call them to go over it. If they don’t answer I leave a message. I usually give a day or two then call again if they haven’t responded. After that I will let it go for a week or so then try again but only with the deposit because they are then committed.

No deposit I will give the rough verbal estimate. Then call in a few days and maybe about a month later. If they haven’t committed by then it is passed time to move on. Too much time gets wasted chasing people when actual customers are ready to go.

Hope this helped and makes sense!

I did kindly reach out to the customers. One said price was to high. The other still hasn’t responded. I’m not going to sweat about it. I am a machinist in real life and do this on the side in hopes of going full time eventually. While I would like to get the jobs, I am trying not to start out on the low priced side just to get work.
Thank you all for the help.
