Hey everyone!

This will be a personal project for my 1972 VW Westfalia. I’m attempting to make the seats comfortable for my back, while still maintaining a “factory” appearance.

I’m looking to ditch the springs and build it up with foam, on either rubber webbing or plywood base… I’m looking for recommendations on foam density.

Im thinking I’ll need 2 layers to give me the support I’m looking for? One super dense and one softer?

I believe there is a foam thread around here somewhere but density has always baffled me!

Good morning @ctmk2 I have done a couple projects in this fashion with foam I purchased from The Foam Factory. For the base, I used their Super Max topped with their HD36-HQ. I shoot for about 3/4 of the thickness using the Supermax. The top 1/4 being the softer HD36.
Best of luck with your project.
