On my car seats I'm having a few issues the hog rings a causing rips in the leather where they are connected. I guess being to tight. Also the fabric sewn onto the leather for lisping wire keep coming undone. Any tips to remedy those two issues?

A picture might help. I don't believe the hog rings go through the leather. My understanding is there is a cloth material that would be sewn to the leather, then the listing wire is slid through that then the hog rings go around the listing wire. I'm new to this as well but I have seen how my seat covers are made. Also, what thread are using? I have made a cover once that broke the thread as I used too small of diameter of thread.

The only time i seen the actual vinyl or leather hog ringed was when it had a hem with cording or wire in it..
Your missing something , probably the listing .

Old Porsche leather seat do have the hog ring going through the leather, but only at the edge of the cover. There is fabric sew in to attach to the foam, and most of the edge attachment is done with cleats. Like Rhonda said you usually only see it on the piping.
