I picked up a 1/8 welting foot a while back. i find that I need a larger welting foot for some fat cord. I'm thinking about getting a zipper foot to do the fat cord, 3/8-1/2". Will the zipper foot get close enough to the cording material to look properly like a welting foot would do?

The zipper foot wont get close enough but what you can do is grind the feet down so that it will get close enough. This is what I have done. They do also sell welt feet for cord that large if you want to go that route.

Yeah, I saw a vid on youtube, the chap cut the feet/foot. I had to do some looking, but I did find what I was pondering on..
