Hi,

I recently moved from an apartment to a house with my wife and kid and are finally able to purchase an air compressor.
I really enjoy some basic woodwork, DIY projects, which means that I use a wide variety of air tools. BUT, my garage wall is like 9ft from my neighbors' house. I guess you can never have it all....

All in all, I need a quiet air compressor for basic jobs + inflate car tires, footballs and yeah. That's pretty much it.
The size is a none issue, but the noise will be.

I'm thinking of getting either one of these.

Or are you able to recommend me something that your happy with?
Budget = $1000, but if I could find anything below $500, that would be great!

Thank you!

I can't say as any are all that quiet . I have a big air compressor that is mounted to the floor that is in my shop and have underground plumbing to all of my other buildings and shops . I also have a portable Craftsman oiless compressor similar to the Home depot that I use wherever I don't have air plumbed to . They are both pretty noisy but on the outside of the building not bad They just sound different from one another . You might want to try not using late when neighbor is trying to sleep although I doubt if the compressor would make that much noise to penetrate two walls and 15 to 20 feet of outdoor space Glad I live out here on the farm in the middle of nowhere :grinning: I can pretty much do what I want (as long as legal )

A neighbor down the street from me had an oil less, they claim to be quite but this thing was far from it. A buddy of mine put his into a sound proof box that he built, he had a small fan built in to take out the heat. He lived in an apartment and no one knew he was painting parts. Sound proofing material can be bought at home depot.

On the market, there is a lot of compressors and they are mostly not so quite like we want. Some time ago a was trying to figure out what to buy and got it. I've buy EPAuto 12V DC (check these details if you want to know more, this is a blog with reviews and a link moves you to the post with air compressors) and really like what I've got for now. It works properly and quite enough for me and my and my wife's ears.
