I am going to answer it this way. I do not think that anything but a good 03 inches of the vinyl wrapped and extending past the foam bolster is required. A ring must have been sewn into the end and the bolster fitted that way. Big boys down there man especially with the lifting community better use some heavy guage viyl.

To slip the cover over I would think that it would have to be able to close on one end at least after it’s one. Idk if a zip tie sewn in or something similar. Maybe extra strong elastic?

Most likely there is a hem sewn on each end with a string inside or small rope, maybe a zip tie in side the hem. Once you install the sleeve is pulled over the round bun the string is pulled tight and tied off.
