I was going to repair this but someone has applied super glue to the material making it hard the brittle. Replacement material is not available, so it has been decided to shorten the skirt to remove the damage.

Given that there will be vertical holes from the original stitching and thought on how to minimize the machine hole when shortening the skirt.

I would probably remove all the stitching if thats not a huge amount of work. Then when re-sewing set your stitch length as to match the old stitch holes. Then very carefully sew the seam making sure the needle enters in to the existing holes. If the needle isn't going to enter exactly where you want it just slightly lift the foot and position the fabric where you need it and continue on. If your machine is to fast for this you can accomplish it by operating the machine by hand.

Thanks. I worked on this some today. Ended up hand turning the machine for the two vertical sides, and using the motor for the horizontal, but still had missed holes on the back side of the skirt.

@BigRig I am using a Singer 111w155, probably built in the 50s. I did buy a new table and a servo for it though.
