Seam allowance issue cause weave failure

I initially thought this was a thread failure and was prepared to hand sew the seam closed, but after getting onsite I found that the issue is actually a combination of too wide a stitch and a seam allowance issue. How would you go about repairing this?

Note that is a construction stitch and a top stitch on one side of the seam.

BTW the top stitch is 4 SPI, and the construction stitch is 6SPI.

For a repair I would try, carefully, ripping the seam apart then "overlocking" the edge with a serger or a zig zag machine to stabilize the weave before sewing it back together. If that's not possible I would bond some muslin to the back of the fabric with clear contact cement to strengthen the coarse woven material then restitch the seam. Good luck!

Thanks. Unfortunately, I only have straight stitching capability at this time. So I used 2 lines of 8SPI inside the Seam Allowance to help reinforce the weave after realignment of the Seam Allowance. Note the mis match color thread used for the reinforcing of the weave.

Putting in the construction stitch and the Top Stitch afterwards.

My Thread is slightly more noticeable

I use a domestic sewing machine with zigzag to handle overcasting, pick one up used as you only need light weight thread to finish off the seam.

Thank you. I do have a portable domestic, but it is definitely not as nice to work with as a table base head. I will try that if I running into this again.
