I will run a 138 on top and a 92 in the bottom sometimes when I’m topstitching smaller projects, as long as the stitches are linking up in the middle of the fabric I don’t see a problem.
Yep I do this all the time. Only thing is that the stitch will only as strong as the smaller size thread. However most of the time when your stitching with thick thread its for decoration not seam strength. Also running the smaller thread in the bobbin means changing your bobbin less often.
Yes John, it is for stitches on a diamond seat insert. I never really thought about the bobbin lasting longer because of thread size.
