I started removing the rotted old fabric on the door pillar on this 49 Buick and ran across a cardboard material that is attached to the frame with ridged nails and clips. Does anyone know what the clips and ridged nails are called. What is the process of covering this and attaching the windlace, which seems to be sewn to tack strip material. There are no "task strips" attached to the frame of the vehicle. Is it best to drill holes in the cardboard or ABS and metal frame, use Auverco #808 clips, staple the foam and vinyl to the cardboard/abs and attach the vinyl much like a door panel?
What would be the best way to attach the windlace in this application? Should I create ABS tack strips and rivet / glue them around the pillar to staple the windlace or should i use the existing cardboard and staple the new lace to it if it is still in good shape, if not replace?
Looking for the best way to do this...thank you in advance.
