How thick of foam do you use for pleats?

For the ones I've done so far, It has depended on the application.

For seats and bigger/bulkier bits I used 1/2". For the one set of door panels I've done (diamond pattern) I opted for 1/4".

The thicker the foam, the more plump the pleat looks if that makes sense.
